Christian continued his success until he died in 1957 after a sudden, fatal heart attack. The fashion world was stunned when the news was heard and the employees of Dior were devastated though the House of Dior continued to thrive. The Master was gone after only a decade of designs under his own name but his influence in the world of fashion still exists today.
